Fatality in Napa County: Cyclist Killed in Collision on Silverado Trail
CHP Reports Bicyclist Struck, Killed
Napa, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2025) – A cyclist died in a collision on Silverado Trail Tuesday morning in front of Silverado Vineyards in Napa County.
The rider was struck by a vehicle due to unknown circumstances around 11:48 AM on Feb. 25th, prompting a response from emergency services, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash between the vehicle and cyclist took place on this popular wine country route. The area was closed to traffic and emergency responders confirmed the cyclist’s death shortly after their arrival.
The CHP set up roadblocks and diverted traffic at the intersection of Oak Knoll and Silverado Trail to allow emergency crews to work efficiently. As a result, significant delays were reported along the southbound lanes of Silverado Trail, specifically near the Yountville Cross, where traffic was rerouted.
At 12:06 PM, CHP units requested additional support from the Oak Knoll area to manage the traffic diversion. Fire personnel also responded to the scene, and by 12:10 PM, a hard closure was in effect at the Oak Knoll and Silverado Trail intersection, further impacting the flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, with authorities working closely with Cal Fire to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. At this time, no further details regarding the vehicle or the identity of the cyclist have been released.
“This incident highlights the dangers cyclists face on busy roadways, especially in high-traffic areas like Silverado Trail,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Local authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious and vigilant, particularly when sharing the road with cyclists, to help prevent further tragedies.”
Finally, as investigators work to understand what led to the fatal collision, the Napa community mourns the loss of another life on its roadways.
