Woman, 37, Arrested on DUI and Manslaughter Charges in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, California (June 16, 2014) — Soukvilay Barton, 37, was arrested on DUI charges after she reportedly ran over and killed her father Friday night as she was backing out of a garage at a home in the 14000 block of Bush Avenue, according to KABC News.
Bounmy Rajsombath, 69, of Riverside was standing behind the woman’s 2003 BMW convertible in an attempt to prevent his daughter from driving drunk, but Barton refused and backed out of the driveway and drove over him. She stopped and got out of her vehicle when she realized what she had done and remained at the scene. Her father was taken to Riverside Community Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The driver is under arrest for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter and is being held on $75,000 bail.
