Pedestrian struck by vehicle near Shields and West Avenues
FRESNO, CA (July 20, 2021) – Felipe Balero, 40, died after a hit-and-run collision on July 10th on Shields Avenue in Fresno.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened just before midnight between Channing Way and West Avenue, according to the Fresno Police Department.
The homeless man was attempting to cross the road carrying several items, authorities said. Police believe that a total of four vehicles struck the man in the roadway.
Homeless Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident
The first three eastbound vehicles failed to stop, however, the final driver in the fourth vehicle stopped and called 911 for help.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded and Felipe Balero was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim.
Additionally, witnesses told police a driver of a white truck who first struck the victim did slow down initially, but kept driving.
Also, the deadly pedestrian accident on Shields Avenue remains under investigation by the Fresno Police Department.
