MORENO VALLEY, California (February 2, 2015) – Fernanda Villela Castaneda, 70, of Moreno Valley, has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed early Saturday morning by a driver on the westbound Highway 60, just east of Day Street, according to a press release by the Riverside County Fire Department.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to the scene of the crash at 4:19 a.m., but they were unable to save her but she died at the scene at 4:29 a.m., according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The California Highway Patrol’s Riverside station is heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability for this woman’s death.
“My condolences go out to the family of Fernanda Castaneda as they cope with this tragedy,” said Attorney James Johnson.
