Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Fresno is Identified

FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2024) – Fernando Gutierrez, 70, of Fresno, died Saturday the day after a pedestrian accident at Shields Avenue between Wilson and Palm avenues in Fresno.

The collision occurred just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 5th, according to the Fresno Police Department and Your Central Valley News.

Police reported they found the injured man in the roadway near Shields and Palm avenues, but the driver involved had fled the scene.

Paramedics rushed the injured man to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, but he died the next day on Jan. 6th, according to the Freson County Sheriff Coroner.

Meanwhile, authorities are searching for the driver and asking witnesses to contact them with any information to help them solve the crime.
