Otay Mesa, CA (March 8, 2022) – Police arrested 51-year-old Fernando Hernandez Salazar in relation with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Arey Drive on Thanksgiving Day last year.

According to NBC News, Salazar was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling in the streets of Otay Mesa. Earlier reports indicated the motorist struck a man riding a bicycle in the 3700 block of Arey Drive; near the Silverwing Recreation Center.

The horrible collision took place on November 25 at approximately 11:30 a.m. The article published online confirmed the bicyclist sadly died at a hospital shortly after the incident.

Meanwhile, Salazar apparently fled the scene before police arrived. On March 7, officers located the hit-and-run suspect. Our sources mentioned Salazar was arrested while he attempted to cross into the U.S. at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

Authorities booked the suspect on suspicion of murder in connection with the death last year of 40-year-old Octavio Mendoza.
