San Diego Man, 90, Dies After Being Struck by Car on El Cajon Boulevard

San Diego, CA (March 28, 2025) — A 90-year-old San Diego man, identified as Fessehaye Gebre, died in a pedestrian accident March 19th on El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the elderly man was crossing the street when he was hit by an eastbound BMW sedan around 7:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called 911. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, providing lifesaving measures before transporting Fessehaye Gebre to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

Despite the efforts of paramedics and medical staff, Gebre was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 8:00 p.m. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, with no additional contributing factors identified.

The incident is being investigated by the San Diego Police Department, which has classified the death as an accident. Next of kin have been notified.

This tragic accident highlights ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in the area, especially along busy streets like El Cajon Boulevard.
