2-Vehicle Collision on State Route Highway 70 Near Oroville
GRIDLEY, Calif. (May 17, 2024) — A major injury crash happened Friday morning on State Route 70 and East Gridley Road near Oroville in Butte County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 5:55 a.m. on May 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a pickup truck and a 4-door sedan were involved. CHP officials reported one of the two vehicles involved became fully engulfed in flames after the accident. A truck driver stopped and used a fire extinguisher to attempt to put out the fire.
Paramedics responded and rushed at least one person with major injuries to Rideout hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway and County Roads responded to replace a broken road side.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Gridley Road in Butte County.
