Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 Freeway in Contra Costa County
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (August 31, 2021) — A fiery, multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway happened Tuesday morning in Hercules, Contra Costa County.
The collision happened about 7:44 a.m. on August 31st near Willow Avenue in the Hercules area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A gray Toyota Prius caught on fire and was fully engulfed, the CHP reports. Other vehicles involved were a gray Honda CRV with major front-end and rear-end damage and a blue Honda Fit.
Additionally, police did not provide details about what led up to the multi-vehicle crash.
Injury Accident on Interstate 80 in Hercules
Also, paramedics responded to help those hurt in the fiery crash on Interstate 80. Additionally, a helicopter responded to transport one person to a hospital due to serious injuries from the traffic accident. It’s unknown how many in total suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
