Fiery, Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 Freeway in Fontana

Fiery, Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 Freeway in Fontana

FONTANA, Calif. — Aug. 5, 2026 — A multi-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 10 Freeway happened Wednesday near the Sierra Avenue off-ramp in Fontana.

The collision caused significant traffic delays during the morning commute after one of the vehicles caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported on Aug. 5th at approximately 8:44 a.m. and initially involved a white pickup truck and two sedans blocking the No. 1 lane. Dispatch logs later indicated the crash involved at least four vehicles, including a white Toyota Tacoma, a white Toyota Tundra, a red Toyota Prius, and a gray Nissan Altima.

According to CHP reports, the gray Nissan Altima became lodged underneath the Toyota Tundra, and flames were seen coming from the Nissan. Shortly afterward, the red Toyota Prius was also reported to be on fire. Authorities requested a tow truck for a fully engulfed vehicle while firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze.

The crash blocked at least the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes of westbound Interstate 10, with witnesses reporting three damaged vehicles obstructing traffic near the Rancho Avenue area.

One occupant complained of pain following the collision, though the extent of any injuries was not immediately released. CHP requested multiple tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles from the freeway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Motorists experienced heavy delays in the area while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
