Fiery Semi-Truck Crash on 5 Freeway, Indiana Street in Boyle Heights

One Injured in Fiery Crash Involving Big Rig Truck in Boyle Heights
EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 24, 2026) – One person was injured early Saturday following a collision between a vehicle and a semi-truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway, just north of South Indiana Street in Boyle Heights.
The truck reportedly crashed into a car around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd, on the southbound side of the freeway, the California Highway Patrol reports. The semi-truck also burst into flames, and there was a large diesel fuel spill.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured person to a hospital. Authorities issued a Sigalert at 6:38 a.m. and closed down the Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5 lanes for roughly seven hours. Eventually, the SigAlert was revised at 8:42 a.m. when police reopened the No. 2 and 3 lanes.
The cause of the truck accident remails under investigation to determine fault.
