1 Seriously Injured in Fillmore Crash on Highway 23 Near Grimes Canyon
FILLMORE, CA (January 22, 2022) – At least one was seriously injured after a car crash on Highway 23 in Fillmore.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the accident on Saturday morning. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck shortly before 8:30 a.m.
CHP said two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown reason in the city of Fillmore. They crashed on Highway 23, known as Grimes Canyon Road.
The incident log described the cars as a black Nissan Sentra and a blue Toyota Tacoma. Both vehicles obtained major front-end damage upon impact.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Grimes Canyon. They extricated a trapped occupant from the wreckage.
One person sustained major injuries, including a facial laceration, as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 23 to shut down for an hour following the wreck.
The cause of the Fillmore crash is still under investigation.
