At Least 1 Killed in Traffic Collision at Russell and Althea Avenue Monday
Firebaugh, CA (August 16, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a fatal car crash that occurred in the area of Russell and Althea Avenue.
According to the CHP dispatch, a vehicle veered off the roadway while traveling in the streets of Firebaugh in Fresno County. Officials said the car plunged down the canal at the intersection of Russell and Althea.
Rescue teams arrived at the location shortly after 9:50 a.m. First responders found the vehicle completely submerged, approximately 50 feet, in the water.

The CHP group later confirmed one person sadly died as a result of the collision. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
At this time, investigators continue to work to determine exactly how and why the fatal car crash in Firebaugh happened.
