Five Injured in 405 Freeway Crash, Near Victory Blvd., in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS, Calif. (August 17, 2026) – A car and pickup truck were involved in a crash Saturday on the 405 Freeway that resulted in both vehicles tumbling 200 feet down an embankment, leaving five people injured in Van Nuys.

The vehicles landed next to Woodley Park following the collision at 7:03 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th, just south of Victory Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Police, paramedics and firefighters responded and located one man trapped in an overturned pickup truck. Meanwhile, the involved sedan also was found overturned nearby.

Three women and another man were found injured near the sedan.

Authorities were told one of the vehicles was allegedly speeding in and out of traffic lanes prior to the collision with the other vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
