GOLETA, Calif. (May 23, 2023) — Florencio Lagara-Perez, 55, of Santa Barbara, died in a crash on Highway 101 Tuesday in Goleta.
Pedro Contreras, 64, of Santa Barbara, was injured in the collision on the Fairview Avenue on-ramp, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The traffic accident occurred around 5:15 a.m. on May 23rd when a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck spun out and overturned in a field, Noozhawk reported. The crash happened on the Fairview Avenue on-ramp to Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Driver, Pedro Contreras suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, but his passenger, Florencio Lagara-Perez died at the scene.
The CHP is investigating what caused the Goleta crash.
