1 Killed in Fontana Fiery Crash on 15 Freeway Near 210 Freeway
FONTANA (May 2, 2020) – A traffic collision along the 15 Freeway under the 210 Freeway killed one person late Saturday afternoon.
According to reports by Victor Valley News and Fontana News Herald, the fatal accident occurred at about 5:14 p.m. south of the 210 freeway.
The California Highway Patrol said a red Chevy Camaro traveling north apparently slammed into the freeway pillar and then became engulfed in flames.
Speed Contest Possible Factor in Fontana Fatal Car Accident
A dispatch by CHP indicated that a blue and/or gray Corvette cut the Camaro off and prompted the crash. The two were allegedly involved in a speed contest prior to the wreck.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded and found the driver trapped in the burning car. The motorist died at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the the operator of the Corvette stopped at the crash site.
Officers forced the Nos 1 to 4 lanes of the freeway following the incident. The tragic collision remains under investigation.
