FONTANA: Fatal Car Crash into Truck on San Bernardino Avenue
Driver in Honda Crashes Under Semi-Truck Trailer at Fontana Intersection
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif., (July 15, 2026) — A tragic collision involving a semi-truck and a black Honda Accord resulted in a fatality early Wednesday morning in Fontana at San Bernardino Avenue and Redwood Avenue.
The incident occurred on July 15th at approximately 5:13 a.m., when the black Honda Accord reportedly traveled underneath a white semi-truck trailer, becoming wedged. All lanes were blocked just east of Cherry Avenue due to the positioning of the vehicles.
Emergency responders, including the fire department and police units, arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts, the Honda Accord’s occupants were trapped inside the vehicle, which was completely beneath the semi-trailer. Efforts to extricate them were underway, but at least one person did not survive the collision.
The San Bernardino County Coroner was notified by 5:45 a.m. as the situation developed. Authorities closed the area from Redwood Avenue to Live Oak Avenue to facilitate the investigation and recovery efforts.
The victim has not yet been publicly identified, and further details regarding the number of occupants in the black Honda Accord are currently unknown. Meanwhile, tow trucks were requested for an evidence tow for both vehicles.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash. They are asking witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
