1 Killed in Fontana Hit-and-Run Crash on 10 Freeway at Citrus Avenue
FONTANA, CA (March 6, 2022) – At least one was killed after a hit-and-run crash on the 10 Freeway and Citrus Avenue in Fontana.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:52 a.m.
CHP said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the city of Fontana. They crashed on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Citrus Avenue.
2 Vehicles Collide
The incident log described the two cars as a white Toyota Corolla and a minivan. The van became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that one person died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, witnesses told CHP that the driver of the Toyota abandoned the car and jumped into another vehicle.
Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to shut down for a time near Citrus following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Fontana hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
