Pedestrian Killed in Fontana DUI Crash Near Citrus and Baseline

FONTANA, CA (March 6, 2023) – A DUI crash killed a pedestrian near Citrus and Baseline avenues in Fontana.

According to an article published by the Fontana Herald News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the collision on March 5 at about 1:23 a.m.

The incident happened when a Ford Mustang was going north on Citrus Avenue near Baseline Avenue in the city of Fontana. Police said the car then struck a male pedestrian in the roadway.

Victim Hit by Drunk Driver

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim down on the ground. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel soon pronounced the man dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the Mustang was under the influence of alcohol. They arrested the suspect for DUI after hitting the pedestrian.

Officers forced the area of Citrus and Baseline avenues to shut down for a time following the pedestrian accident. The cause of the fatal Fontana DUI crash is still under investigation.
