Multi-Vehicle Collision, Semi-Truck Crashes into Center Divide on Freeway
FONTANA, Calif. (August 18, 2023) — A multi-vehicle Fontana accident involving a semi-truck happened Friday morning on the Interstate 15 Freeway, just north of Duncan Canyon Road.
The four-vehicle collision occurred in the northbound lanes around 5:23 a.m. on August 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
The drivers of a white semi-truck, a blue semi-truck, a white Subaru sedan and a grey Toyota Tundra pickup truck were involved.
The initial crash involved the white Subaru and the white semi-truck. The semi-truck reportedly crashed into the center divide and landed on top of the guardrail blocking both the southbound and northbound HOV lanes of the I-15 Freeway. Meanwhile, the Subaru became pinned next to the semi-truck. The blue semi-truck also involved, but was still drivable and pulled to the right shoulder. The Tundra suffered major front-end damage in the collision with the others.
Police issued a SigAlert for roughly two hours due to the roadway being blocked by vehicles and debris.
Tow trucks removed the damaged semi-truck as well as the Subaru and the Tundra pickup truck.
Furthermore, the truck damaged roughly 60 feet of the guardrail in the center divide.
Investigators are piecing together what happened to determine fault for the Fontana truck accident on the 15 Freeway.
