PATTERSON, California (August 27, 2014) – Police suspect alcohol and speed were both factors in a crash that killed four people Tuesday night when their car struck a power pole on Marshall Road near Modesto, according to a report by the Merced Sun Star.
About 7:29 p.m., the driver of a 2004 Lexus sedan was allegedly speeding, drove over the Delta Mendota Canal bridge and crashed into a large power pole before splitting into two pieces.
The victims all died at the scene of the crash. They were identified as Rafael Solis-Bautista, 23, of Modesto, who was driving the car, the front-seat passenger was Jhoani Solis-Benavides, 23, of Patterson. The two back-seat passengers were, Amairani Montes, 19, of Newman and Alexa Pimentel, 21, of Calexico.
“Police will continue to investigate the cause of this crash and will eventually issue a police report with their findings,” said Attorney James Johnson.
