Four Killed in Head-on Crash Mount Emma Road in Littlerock

Bryan Vargas, 22, Byron Herrera Lorenzana, 23, Identified
LITTLEROCK, Calif. (May 12, 2026) — Bryan Vargas, 22, and Byron Herrera Lorenzana, 23, were among four people killed in a head-on crash Friday evening on a rural roadway in Littlerock, authorities said.
The collision occurred on May 8th around 6:39 p.m. on Mount Emma Road near 77th Street East, just south of Pearblossom Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said an eastbound Infiniti G35 crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a westbound Honda Pilot SUV. Both vehicles sustained catastrophic front-end damage.

Vargas and Lorenzana, who were traveling in the Infiniti, died at the scene, officials said. Authorities noted that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
The driver and passenger inside the Honda Pilot were critically injured and airlifted to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where both later died from their injuries, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia said. Their identities have not yet been released.
CHP investigators said evidence found inside the Infiniti suggests alcohol may have played a role in the deadly crash.
Officials also reminded drivers to use caution on mountain and desert roads such as Mount Emma Road, citing narrow lanes, reduced visibility and winding terrain as factors that can increase the likelihood of serious head-on collisions, especially at night.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Vargas and Lorenzana died from traumatic injuries.
