Four Killed in Rollover Crash on I-40 in San Bernardino County

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (May 6, 2025) — A single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday morning claimed the lives of a 35-year-old man and three children ages 10, 15, and 16, in unincorporated San Bernardino County.

Deadly Rollover Collision on Interstate 40 Freeway

The fatal crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. on May 4, 2025, along westbound Interstate 40 near Hector Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Barstow Area.

Authorities say the driver, Bryce Martinez, 35, of Yermo, was pronounced dead on scene., was behind the wheel of a 2012 Dodge Ram with three young passengers — two males and one female — when the vehicle veered off the road, entered the dirt shoulder, and overturned multiple times.

All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified the passengers as 10-year-old Sailor A. Martinez, Trent Martinez, 15, and Cole Martinez, 16, all from Barstow, who were pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators Looking into Cause of Fatal Crash on I-40

CHP officials said that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

CHP Lieutenant Adam Carmichall told Victor Valley News Group, “We are saddened by the tragic loss of life and extend our deepest condolences to the families affected.” He urged motorists to drive safely, stay alert, and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained.
