Juan Silva Casares Fatally Injured in Head-on Crash
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Francisco Silva, 45, of Creston, suffered major injuries in a crash Wednesday night that left one man dead and eight people with minor to major injuries.
Juan Silva Casares, 48, of Creston, died in the two vehicle collision between a minivan and a pickup truck at the Cholame “Y” on Highway 46. Francisco Silva, 45, of Creston suffered major injuries, including head, eye and ear lacerations. He wass airlifted to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.
The car accident was reported at 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 46 and 41, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 2015 Honda Odyssey minivan was traveling eastbound on Highway 46, when its driver Zi Tao Pan, 39, of Fresno, made a left turn in front of an oncoming 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Federico Lopez Torres of Creston.
Casares was riding as a front passenger in the pickup truck and suffered fatal injuries.
Five people were taken by ambulances to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton. Also injured in the crash was Xiuyu Yang who was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for undisclosed injuries.
