Francisco Guzman, 26, Killed in Chula Vista Crash on Interstate 805
CHULA VISTA, CA (May 4, 2023) – Francisco Guzman was killed after a motorcycle crash on the Interstate 805 in Chula Vista.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 26-year-old Escondido man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place last week on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Francisco Guzman was riding a motorcycle in the HOV lane of the northbound Interstate Route 805 in Chula Vista. A pickup truck was traveling in the same direction at the time.
Motorcycle and Truck Collide
For an unknown reason, the pickup then made a right turn into the path of the motorcyclist. In the process, he braked and laid down his motorcycle to avoid collision.
Deputies said the rider slid along the road and slammed into the rear of the truck. The FOX 5 News wrote that the accident occurred on April 26 at around 6 a.m., south of Telegraph Canyon Road.
Francisco Guzman sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed him to the UCSD Medical Center, where he soon died.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the driver of the truck ended up unharmed following the wreck. The cause of the Chula Vista crash is still under investigation.
