COACHELLA, California (October 2, 2016) – A fatal traffic collision occurred in the Thermal area early Sunday, according to The Desert Sun.
The 2-car crash took place about 5:45 a.m. in the area of Airport Boulevard and Harrison Street.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a Mercury Marquis and a second unknown vehicle collided, resulting in one fatality.
Fire department personnel along with the paramedics responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene. He was identified by the coroner’s office as 54-year-old Francisco Hernandez Cruz, of Coachella.
The statement released by the sheriff’s department indicated that the deadly accident happened on Harrison Street, a mile south of Airport Drive.
Meanwhile, another victim was reportedly transported to a local hospital with injuries described as moderate. The name and condition of the patient at this time remained unknown.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
