Francisco Rodriguez Fatal Rollover Crash La Grange Road, Field Road
Victim of Rollover Crash Identified
MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2024) — Francisco Rodriguez, 60, died Saturday in a rollover crash on La Grange Road, just north of Field Road north of Snelling in Merced County.
The solo-vehicle collision occurred at around 12:40 a.m. on Feb. 3rd, according to the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
The man was a passenger in a 2017 Toyota Yaris driven by a 58-year-old Merced man, according to a California Highway Patrol report and the Merced Sun Star.
Police officers responded to the scene where the vehicle had gone off the roadway and crashed on the shoulder after it overturned multiple times. Both the driver and passenger were ejected because they were not wearing their seatbelts, police said.
Unfortunately, Francisco Rodriguez died at the scene, however, the driver survived with major injuries and was transported to a hospital in Modesto.
The CHP is heading up the investigation and working to determine if drugs and or alcohol contributed to the accident. Witnesses may contact the Merced Area CHP office at 209-356-6600.
