Frander Arriaza, 23, Killed in Suspected DUI Crash Near 680 Freeway

November 5, 2018 – 23-year-old Frander Arriaza was killed in an alleged DUI collision on Highway 24 near the connector ramp to northbound Interstate 680 Freeway.
According to Patch News, Arriaza was seen in the driver’s seat of a Nissan that was blocking the highway for unknown reasons. Before CHP officers could arrived at the scene, however, a Chevrolet Volt slammed into the Nissan.
The impact caused the Nissan to burst in flames. When emergency responders arrived at the location, the vehicle has already been fully engulfed.
Shortly after 1:21 a.m., Arriaza was sadly pronounced dead. It was not immediately known whether the man died from injuries sustained in the collision, or from the fire.

Meanwhile, officials also identified the Chevrolet driver as 68-year-old Dennis Toshimi Tajiri, of Concord. As per the article, the elderly was treated for minor injuries at a hospital, and was later arrested then booked into the Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
