1 Dead, 1 Injured in North Highlands Crash on Madison and Date Avenues
NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2019) — Frank Avalos, 57, was killed and a woman seriously injured Wednesday night when they were struck by two motorists as they were crossing the street, according to Sacramento Metro Firefighters.
The collision took place before 10 p.m. as the pair walked in a crosswalk on Madison Avenue and Date Avenue, the report said. This is located next to the I-80 freeway. The first driver in a Toyota struck the pedestrians who were walking southbound in the crosswalk. The woman was also struck by a second motorist in the Hyundai. Both drivers stopped and remained at the scene.
Firefighters responding to the scene reported that the man died upon their arrival.The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with major injuries.

Police are piecing together what caused this collision.
At this time, police will speak to any witnesses to learn what happened. It’s unknown at this time if there was any surveillance cameras or dash cam footage that can help police with their investigation.
