Motorcyclist, Car Crash on Interstate 215 Freeway in Riverside County
PERRIS, Calif. (May 20, 2020) — Frank Jones, 58, of Menifee, was killed early Wednesday morning in a collision between his motorcycle and a car on the 215 Freeway in Perris.
The crash was reported about 1:41 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Harley Knox Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Arriving police located the rider down in the No. 1 lane with debris strewn across the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Meanwhile, a driver in a black Nissan Versa pulled over in the center divider to call 911 and report that she hit a vehicle on the freeway. She told authorities it was too dark and didn’t know what happened.
The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene by the coroner, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. He was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Police closed down the southbound lanes of Interstate 215 were closed at Van Buren Boulevard.
The cause of the crash was under investigation. Police are seeking to find out if drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the collision.
