Hollywood Sound Engineer Killed East Palmdale Boulevard
PALMDALE (September 12, 2018) – Frank Serafine, 65, of Lake Hughes, an Oscar-winning motion picture sound designer, composer and editor. was killed when he was struck by a passing motorist on East Palmdale Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.
The collision took place at around 11:24 a.m. near 12th Street East.
The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station reported that the Lake Huges man was standing near the driver’s side of his parked 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser on Palmdale Boulevard when he was struck by a driver in a silver 2014 Audi.
The Audi was driven by a man in his 20s. He was traveling west on Palmdale Boulevard in the No. 2 lane when he hit the victim and his vehicle mid-block, between 12th and 15th Street East.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department stated that the pedestrian suffered major head and body trauma and died at the scene.
Police are investigating whether or not the driver of the Audi was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was taken to a hospital to have his blood drawn.
Serafine made his mark in Hollywood as sound editor and designer on many blockbusters movies, television shows and worked on hundreds of commercials and other projects. Among his most notable films were: Star Trek, Tron, Addams Family, Emmy-Winning Sound Design on The Day After and Oscar-Winning Sound Design for The Hunt for Red October.
