Bicyclist Killed in Santa Clarita Crash is Identified

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (Nov. 30, 2023) – Franklin Mejia, 42, of Santa Clarita, died in a bicycle accident Saturday at Market Street and Railroad Avenue in Santa Clarita.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A driver in a blue Mini Cooper reportedly struck the man at around 12:42 p.m. on Nov. 25th, according to The Signal.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, but the man died on scene, the report said.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita station are heading up the investigation into liability for the man’s death. Police are hoping to find surveillance video or witnesses that can help them determine fault.

The case remains under investigation.
