The collision took place about 9:55 a.m. this morning. The truck driver was stopped and checking his load when the car crashed into the back of the truck on the right shoulder. The victim died of his injuries at the scene at approximately 10:08 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine liability.
Riverside Wrongful Death Investigation
An investigation into this collision is underway to determine liability. Some of the questions law enforcement may have is whether or not the truck was completely off the roadway at the time of the collision and if speed, drugs and or alcohol were factors?
If a negligent driver is at fault for a collision that left you injured or has taken the life of a loved one, there may also be grounds for a civil lawsuit or wrongful death claim. This is always a personal decision, but for many the financial losses associated with a traffic accident can be significant.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is responsible. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed.
