
Child Badly Injured in Freedom Pedestrian Crash at Buena Vista and Miller
FREEDOM, CA (March 20, 2023) – A pedestrian crash badly injured a child at Buena Vista Drive and Miller Avenue in Freedom.
According to an article published by the KION News, the accident took place on Monday morning. Officers reported the collision on March 20 at around 6:58 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident happened when a child pedestrian was using a crosswalk to walk across the road in Freedom.
The 12-year-old girl from Watsonville was walking across Buena Vista Drive at the intersection with Miller Avenue at the time. For an unknown reason, a car struck her.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the victim hurt. She sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to the Valley Medical Center for treatment. The report did not disclose the condition of the girl at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the female driver stopped and stayed at the site following the accident. They identified her as 40-year-old Maria Tapia Lara, of Freedom.
Officers forced the area of Buena Vista and Miller to shut down after the incident. The cause of the Freedom pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
