Traffic Collision on Southbound I-880 Near Auto Mall Parkway Leads to Major Delay

Location: I-880 South / Auto Mall Parkway, Fremont, CA

FREMONT, Calif. (April 3, 2025) — A three-vehicle collision on southbound I-880, just south of Auto Mall Parkway, caused significant traffic delays in the Fremont area.

The crash, involving a white Tesla Model Y, a silver Toyota Camry, and a possibly, a semi-truck, occurred at approximately 10:23 AM. on April 3rd, 2025. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision resulted in moderate rear-end damage to the Tesla and major front-end damage to the Toyota, with the vehicles blocking multiple lanes of traffic. Two middle lanes and one additional lane were completely blocked, leading to heavy congestion in the area.

Paramedics were on scene to treat those with minor injuries, but it’s unknown if anyone was taken to a hospital.

The Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) was on site to assist with traffic management due to the crash.

No fatalities have been reported, but it is unclear if there were any serious injuries. Emergency crews are still on the scene clearing the wreckage and assisting with the investigation.

The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
