4 Injured in Fresno Crash at Monroe and Belmont Avenues Saturday
FRESNO, CA (April 3, 2021) – Several were injured after a car crash at Monroe and Belmont Avenues near a canal in Fresno.
According to an article published by the FOX 26 News, the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a Chevy Impala was going south on Monroe Avenue in Fresno. For an unknown reason, the car then ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Belmont Avenue.
A Chevy Malibu which did not have a stop sign drove through the intersection at the same time. In the process, the Malibu hit the side of the Impala.
Car Collision Near Irrigation Canal
The California Highway Patrol said the impact partly forced the Impala into an irrigation canal. The Malibu sustained major damage to its front end.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They took the driver of the Impala to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Medical personnel treated the three occupants of the Malibu at the site for the unspecified injuries they sustained. Officials did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, officers shut down the intersection of Monroe and Belmont following the crash. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the wreck.
