FRESNO (November 10, 2016)- According to the Fresno Bee, Choua Yang, 17, of Fresno, has been identified as the young woman who has died from her injuries stemming from a crash caused by a DUI driver Thursday morning.
At roughly 8:30 a.m., Stephen Darnell, 46, was the driver of a Ford SUV who plowed through a red light at the intersection of Maple and Olive avenues.
As he crossed the intersection, Darnell broadsided a Honda occupied by Yang, 22-year-old man, and their mother.
The collision caused serious injuries to both Yang and the young man. The mother was also hospitalized as well.
Days after the crash, Yang’s condition declined as she tragically succumbed to her injuries several days later.
Authorities determined Darnell had been under the influence after a toxicology test was performed. He has since been arrested and faces multiple charges.
Our thoughts and prayers and condolences remain with the family involved in this tragic accident during this time.
