Driver Runs Through Stop Sign and Hits Car Killing Child
FRESNO COUNTY, California (May 6, 2014) – Miguel Perez Jr., 10, of Orange Cove was killed Sunday when a driver ran a stop sign and crashed broadside into the car he was riding in at Alta and Dinuba avenues in Reedley, according to a report by ABC News.
The Sheridan Elementary School student was riding as a passenger in the front seat of his aunt’s Honda Civic sedan on their way to pick up a birthday cake for his cousin’s party. Jessica Morris, 22, drove through a stop sign and crashed her Ford pickup truck into the passenger’s side of the car where the boy was seated, California Highway Patrol reported.
The boy’s aunt suffered minor injuries in the Fresno car accident.
Police are investigating the crash and will determine what charges could be filed against the driver if any.
