Bicycle Rider Killed in Fresno County Crash on Watts Valley Road
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (October 2, 2022) – A head-on crash killed a bicycle rider on Watts Valley Road in Fresno County.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:20 a.m.
The incident happened when a 51-year-old woman was riding a bicycle west on Watts Valley Road in Fresno County. At the same time, an Acura NSX was going east.
For an unknown reason, the car tried to negotiate a curve in the roadway. In the process, the Acura veered into the westbound lane directly into the path of the bicyclist.

The California Highway Patrol said the vehicle then slammed head-on into the rider at 19580 Watts Valley Road. Paramedics arrived and found the victim down on the ground.
The cyclist ended up suffering from critical injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon pronounced her dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased woman has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, officers forced a stretch of Watts Valley Road to shut down for a time following the incident.
CHP added that the 45-year-old man driving the car stopped and stayed at the site after the accident. The cause of the fatal Fresno County bicycle crash is still under investigation.
