1 Killed, 3 Injured in Fresno County Crash on Millerton Road Near Lake
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 12, 2023) – A crash killed one person and injured several others on Millerton Road near Millerton Lake in Fresno County.
According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident took place on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on May 11 at around 5:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a Toyota Tundra pickup truck was going west on Millerton Road near Millerton Lake in Fresno County. At the same time, a Toyota Rav4 SUV was traveling east.
For an unknown reason, the pickup failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The truck then went off the roadway, tried to correct the direction and veered to the left.
2 Cars Collide
The Tundra entered the eastbound lane directly into the path of the SUV. The California Highway said the pickup slammed into the Rav4 west of Winchell Cove Road.
The 29-year-old Fresno man driving the SUV sustained severe injuries while his two passengers suffered major injuries upon impact. Paramedics rushed the three victims to the hospital, where the driver soon died.
The motorist in the pickup obtained minor injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel transported the patient for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Millerton Road to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Fresno County crash is still under investigation.
