FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2018) — Anna Rodriguez, 39, of Selma, a passenger in a 2015 Chrysler driven by Edwin Sebastian, was killed today when the vehicle allegedly sped through a stop sign and overturned at American Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.
The crash took place early Monday morning at the intersection, just south of Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Sebastian, 28, of Mendota, was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol as he traveled west on American Avenue about 2 a.m. Police stated that he drove through a stop sign when he came to Golden State Boulevard. The vehicle rolled over at the intersection.
Sebastian suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. The car belonged to Rodriguez, a mother of five children who was reportedly dating the driver, according to Fox 26 News.
Police investigating the crash determined that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
