1 Killed, 2 Severely Injured in Fresno County Crash on Highway 41 and Mountain View
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (December 9, 2022) – A crash killed one person and severely injured two others on Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue in Fresno County.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:22 p.m. near Caruthers.
UPDATE: Driver killed in Highway 41 crash is identified
The incident began when a white Ram pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 41 near East Mountain View Avenue in Fresno County. The car was going about 80 mph at the time.
The California Highway Patrol said the Ram then slammed into the rear of a black Range Rover. The pickup truck continued and struck a fence.
Speeding Driver Hits Another Car
Paramedics arrived and soon pronounced the 69-year-old Laton man driving the Ram dead at the scene. Officers believed he possibly suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision.
The driver of the Range Rover, a 40-year-old man, and his passenger sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident. Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Highway 41 and Mountain View to shut down for a time following the wreck.
Both cars ended up with severe damage after the collision. The cause of the fatal Fresno County crash is still under investigation.
