2 Killed, 3 Injured in Fresno County Crash at Marks and North Avenues
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 1, 2021) – A DUI crash at Marks and North avenues killed a father and his son in Fresno County.
According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at around 8 p.m.
The incident began when a Dodge pickup was going north on Marks Avenue in Fresno County. The truck then ran a red light at the intersection with West North Avenue.
In the process, the Dodge slammed into a Cadillac Escalade. The California Highway Patrol said the SUV was carrying a family of six at the time.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and confirmed that two occupants of the Escalade died as a result of the collision. Two other family members ended up ejected from the SUV.
Drunk Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Family Car
CHP described the deceased as a man in his mid 30s, and his 8-year-old boy. Medical personnel soon rushed the three other occupants of the Cadillac to the Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
CHP affirmed that a 4-year-old and teenagers were among the people riding the Escalade. Meanwhile, the pickup truck became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.
Officials took the driver of the Dodge, a man in his 20s, to the hospital with major injuries. His passenger, a 10-month-old girl, did not sustain any wound following the wreck.
CHP believed that the motorist operating the pickup was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the family SUV. The names of the victims and the suspect have not been yet released.
The fatal Fresno County crash is still under investigation.
