1 Killed, 2 Injured in Fresno County Crash Near Elm and American Avenues
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (November 4, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured two others near Elm and American avenues in Fresno County.
According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 4:10 p.m. near Easton.
The incident began when a silver Hyundai sedan was going south on Elm Avenue, approaching American Avenue, in Fresno County. At the same time, a gold Pontiac sedan was traveling north.
The California Highway Patrol said the Hyundai then drifted into oncoming traffic. In the process, the car slammed head-on into the Pontiac.
Multiple Cars Involved in Wreck
A Honda coupe behind the Pontiac ended up in a ditch after trying to avoid the collision in front. Paramedics rushed the male driver of the Pontiac to a hospital, where he died.
The 66-year-old man driving the Hyundai sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Medical personnel took him for treatment.
The motorist in the Honda survived the incident with minor injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Hyundai was under the influence when he hit the victim. They soon arrested him for DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
Officers forced the area of Elm and American avenues to shut down for a time following the crash. The fatal wreck is still under investigation.
