1 Seriously Injured in Fresno County Crash at Highway 41 and Mount Whitney
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 20, 2021) – A head-on crash seriously injured one person at Highway 41 and Mount Whitney Avenue in Fresno County.
According to an article published by the ABC 30 News, the accident occurred early Saturday. Officers reported the wreck at around 3:30 a.m. near Riverdale in Fresno County.
The incident happened when the driver of a white Ford truck fell asleep and allowed the vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic.
Driver Falls Asleep, Hits Another Car Head-On
The Ford then struck a Buick head-on. The two vehicles crashed on Highway 41 at the intersection with Mount Whitney Avenue.
Firefighters along with the paramedics then responded to the scene. They found the motorist in the Buick suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance took the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. The name of the patient and their condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, the truck operator ended up unharmed following the crash. Officers forced Highway 41 at Mount Whitney to close after the wreck. Authorities are still investigating the collision.
