Woman, Twins Injured in Fresno Crash at Belmont and Palm Avenues
FRESNO, CA (February 21, 2021) – A woman and her babies were hospitalized after a DUI crash at Belmont and Palm avenues in Fresno.
The incident began when a Producers Dairy semi-truck was making a turn southbound from Belmont Avenue to Palm Avenue. Simultaneously, a black sedan traveling behind the big rig slowed down.
Fresno police said a white SUV approached and slammed into the rear of the slowing car. The impact pushed the sedan into the back of the tractor-trailer in the intersection.
DUI Factor in Multi-Vehicle Collision Sunday
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene. They found the mother and her 18-month-old twins hurt inside the black colored car as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the victims to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. The infants were in car seats at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the SUV was under the influence when the wreck happened. Officers soon arrested the motorist for DUI.
Authorities forced Belmont and Palm intersection to close following the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
