Woman Seriously Injured in Fresno Crash at Chestnut Avenue and Highway 180
FRESNO, CA (May 8, 2022) – A woman was seriously injured after a DUI crash at Chestnut Avenue and Highway 180 in Fresno.
According to an article published by The Fresno Bee, the accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:45 a.m.
The incident began when a white Chevy truck was stopped at a red light on Chestnut Avenue, just south of Highway 180, in Fresno. Police said a Chevy Cruze approached and then hit the rear of the truck.
A female passenger of the truck and the driver exited their car to talk to the other motorist. In the process, a gray Lexus came and struck the woman.
2 Drunk Drivers Arrested
The impact sent the victim into the roadway about 10 to 15 feet away. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found her down on the ground.
The woman sustained significant injuries, including a broken shoulder, as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed her to the Community Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded patient. Meanwhile, police determined that the drivers of the Cruze and the Lexus were under the influence of alcohol at the time.
They soon arrested both motorists for DUI and other charges. Officers forced the area of Chestnut Avenue and Highway 180 to shut down following the wreck.
The Fresno crash is still under investigation.
