Motorcyclist, 47, Seriously Injured in Fresno DUI Crash at Herndon and Hayes
FRESNO (August 10, 2018) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after an alleged DUI crash in the area of Herndon and Hayes avenues on Friday evening, according to The Fresno Bee.
The accident took place at approximately 7:35 p.m.
As per the article, police said a 47-year-old man was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Hayes Avenue when he was struck by a Honda Fit.
Suspected Drunk Driver ID’d Guadalupe Verdugo, 33
The car was traveling west when its driver, 33-year-old Guadalupe Verdugo, ran a red light at the intersection of Herndon and Hayes avenues and hit the bike.
Police said the motorcycle was reportedly destroyed upon impact. The rider was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries including a separated shoulder and several broken bones.
The name and condition of the victim at this time remained unknown. Meanwhile Verdugo, who was unharmed in the collision, was believed to have been drunk driving at the time of the wreck. The Mendota man was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
