SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (June 3, 2026) — Five members of a Fresno family traveling to an Arizona graduation ceremony died over the Memorial Day weekend in a fiery crash in the city of Freda, San Bernardino County, California.

The two children, Nyah and Naomi Leon, both died along with their parents, Sergio Leon, 38, and his wife, Hermina Hernandez. The twins were to graduate today (June 3) from their preschool. Sergio’s younger brother, Antonio Leon, 36, of Sanger, also died in the crash.

The family’s vehicle was T-boned by driver, Holly Chafey, 60, of Desert Hot Springs, around 8 a.m. on Friday, May 22, causing their car to burst into flames. The Desert Hot Springs woman also died in the collision, officials said.
