Driver Seriously Injured in Fresno Crash at Chestnut and Clayton
FRESNO (January 7, 2019) – A driver was seriously injured after a fatal traffic collision in the area of Chestnut and Clayton avenues Monday, according to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30.
The accident took place at around 5 p.m.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said an elderly woman was driving her Chevy Equinox west on Clayton Avenue when she allegedly ran a stop sign at Chestnut Avenue.
The Chevy then struck another vehicle at the intersection. The two cars ultimately collided with an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the road.
Elderly Woman Killed in Crash at Chestnut and Clayton
CHP affirmed that the driver of the first car that was hit by the Equinox was seriously injured as a result of the crash. The motorist was transported to the hospital with possibly a broken leg.
Meanwhile the woman, who was believed to be around 70 years old, was pronounced dead following the wreck. The names of the wounded and deceased parties have not been yet released.
The road was forced to shut down for several hours due to the wreck. The incident remains under investigation.

Based on the news report, the elderly driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and caused the collision that led to the injuries of the other motorist involved.
